Many people buy used vehicles as a way to save money. Whether it be a truck, car, van or SUV, these used vehicles are a great investment and can provide you with years of use. However, that doesn't mean you want to jump into any used vehicle. You want to make sure you are thinking your decision through clearly beforehand. Buying a vehicle is a big decision. To help you along the way, here are three questions to ask the dealer when making your final decision.
1. Are there any warranties on the vehicle?
Find out if the vehicle is still under factory warranty or not. If so, you can always confirm the expiration date with the dealer to know how much time you have left on the warranty. If not, ask the dealer about adding a warranty to the vehicle. There are often packages available that you can purchase from outside companies to help you save on major repairs. This can often be financed into your loan.
2. Do you know the history of the vehicle?
See if the dealer knows the history of the vehicle. You want to know whether it has been in an accident or not. You also need to know if it was totaled out and issued a salvage title or not. These are important things you want to know ahead of time. This way you can find out what was replaced or what might need to be replaced down the road.
3. Can you throw in a few extras on the vehicle?
If you happen to find a vehicle that you absolutely love but it doesn't have all of the features you want, you can ask about adding them for you. Whether it be a DVD player, running boards or back-up camera system, you should ask about having these items installed before you take ownership of the vehicle.
By asking the three questions above, you can make sure you are getting a reliable and dependable vehicle. You deserve to get something that is going to last for quite some time, and now you can. It just takes a little time and effort to do your homework and make sure you know what you are stepping into first. Your salesperson is there to help you make an informed decision. You should feel comfortable being able to ask them questions about the different types of used trucks, vans, and other vehicles.
